Got this e-mail from Rene this morning. Rene recently rode our November Bright
Boot Camp and had a fantastic time. He used it as part of his
preparation
for this years La Marmotte. Well done Rene for a fantastic ride! You look very Pro in your Cycling-Inform kit! Here
is his ride report in his own words. By Rene van Woerkom Apologies for the large mail, but just wanted to inform you about a very successful 'La Marmotte'.
Last
Saturday this cyclo-sportive tour was organised in Bourg d'oissons in
France. It was a 174K ride covering almost 5000 altitude meters. During
the ride the Glandon, the Telegraphe, the Galibier were climbed and
descended and as a dessert, after 160K of cycling, the finish was on
top of Alp d'Huez.
With
7000 participants this edition of La Marmotte was at max capacity. I
rode very consistent, never crossing 85% of max heart rate. I was
riding with a friend who was recovering from a knee operation and we
took it easy (for our standards). Still, I managed to finish in 7
hours, 50 minutes.coming in at a 530th place out of 7000. With
Singapore being as flat as a dime, I tribute the easy riding certainly
to the Bright Boot Camp last November.
In
two weeks time I will know my schedule/calendar for the remainder of
the year, but please already write my name in pencil for participation
in this year's October/November camp!
Of
course I did the ride in the Cycling-Inform kit (also did some training
rides in it in the area in the week before the event). I hope it will
bring you a couple more European 'hits' on the website. Attached are
two pictures taken at the turnabout just before the gruelling Alp
d'Huez. There were also some commercial photographers along the way. If
you go to the website www.photobreton.com, then click the British flag
for English language, and enter MA9A3814.JPG in the box beneath "search
by TICKET number" you will find three more pictures of me in
Cycling-Inform Kit going up Alp d'Huez.
If I find more I'll let you know.
I
am going to get in contact with Frank and Ruben to see whether they
will also be coming back to Bright again in November. If they already
happen to have registered, please let me know.
